Many people believe that meta tags are “magic bullet” that will skyrocket sites to the top of all search page listings. But the truth is different; they are a tool that improves your site standing in the search engines. They are used to garner more page views.
A meta tag is hidden tag in the <Head> of an HTML document. They don’t have a closing tag and has three attributes:
Content : The attribute is found in a well formed meta tag that provides the value information in the name.
Name: You are free to use any name that you like or you think is useful to you like keywords, description, authors name and robots copyright.
http-equiv: It is also a name for the name. Some of its common types are charset, expires and refresh.
